Playing With Clay

I’ve been playing with clay for just over a year and it’s been a steep learning curve. I usually work with glass but wanted something more tactile, that I could model with my hands. You certainly can’t do that with glass.

My first major purchase to set up my studio for clay work was a new kiln. I already own two kilns but they don’t reach the temperature required for clay.

I’ve found a great teacher who shares her knowledge willingly and gives everyone in the class (usually there’s a maximum of 4 of us) lots of attention. My creations to date have been fairly simple but I’ve lots of ideas. Here’s a dish where I used a pumpkin leaf growing in my garden as a template.
